Winter Party to be at Gray's Auctioneers
by Sue Doerfer
Cleveland-The Cleveland LGBT Center will host the annual Winter Party on December 11.
This year's party will be held at Gray's Auctioneers, 10717 Detroit Avenue. Featuring appetizers provided by Bob Sferra Culinary Occasions, cash bar and a DJ for
dancing, the party promises to be the best
ever.
"The Winter Party is a chance for the whole community to get together during the holiday season," said center board president Scott Morgan.
Ticket prices for the event are kept fairly low to make it accessible to a broader community.
To purchase tickets go to www.lgbtcleveland.org or call Mary Zaller
at 216-651-5428 ext. 15.
Sue Doerfer is executive director of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Community Center of Greater Cleveland.
Christmas Day is in our grasp
by H. Kurt Wieser
Lakewood-Advent is the season leading up to Christmas, a time of anticipation and preparation for the event.
We in the LGBT community have not always been welcomed by the church, often causing us to feel isolated from spiritual companions during this wonderful time of year. That is about to change.
This year, Liberation Church is hosting a series of Advent services on four consecutive Wednesday evenings beginning December 2.

The services are called "Tré Gay Taizé" since they are based on the prayer services of the Taizé community in France. Each service is especially designed to welcome the LGBT community into a contemplative spiritual experience with others in meditation, prayer, music and reflections on Advent from a queer perspective. This will be a time of respite from the hectic pace of everyday life during this busy time of year.
The services begin at 7 p.m., but come early because a light supper will be served at 6 p.m. Everyone is welcome to join in the free supper to meet new friends and share stories over a meal.
As Dr. Seuss wrote and the people of Whoville sang:
"Welcome Christmas! Bring your cheer! Cheer to all who's far and near! Christmas Day is in our grasp! So long as we have hands to clasp! Christmas Day will always be! Just as long as we have we!"
Let's celebrate the fact that "we have we" and join together in this Advent experience. Liberation Church is located at 13714 Madison Avenue in Lakewood. The church can be reached at 216-521-5556.
